Therapies - Ancestral parts therapy
Freud identified that there were three main personality types, and felt that
we were made up of a combination of these. Terence Watts devised the theory
further and developed them into a way that was easier to relate to:
- Warrior – the dynamic hunter who likes to be the go getter.
- Settler – the home maker.
- Nomad – the entertainer.
We access each of these parts during our daily lives. This can depend on
a variety of aspects within relationships. Each of these parts has both
positive and negative aspects and we can find that one of these parts can
become more dominant that others affecting the way we live.
By accessing and developing all parts of the personality it enables us to
live a more balanced life.
NB - a quick note about resistance to
hypnotherapy: sometimes as you get closer to the
originating event you can feel feelings of resistance. This may take the
form of not telling the therapist what is in your mind, or feeling “it’s not
working”. This is quite common although does not happen to everyone, please
try to work through this whoever you choose your therapist to be. Therapy
work best when you fully involve yourself. |
