Therapies - Hypnotherapy for IBS Sufferers
The psychological distress and physical discomfort of Irritable Bowel
Syndrome (IBS) affects people’s quality of life and by the time they have got to
me they have been through so much treatment through the health service. It is
important however to realise that you cannot cure IBS but you can aid someone to
live symptom free.
Hypnotherapy is a non intrusive, safe, comfortable cost effective
complimentary therapy to use alongside mainstream medicine. This therapy can
increase self esteem, confidence and allow the sufferer to begin a journey of
self improvement and management leading to positive changes. During this
therapy I keep your doctor fully informed of the progress and I will only deal
with this complaint if your GP is happy for you to attend these sessions. I do
not suggest that you stop any programme in which you have been advised to follow
by the medical profession. This is conducted over 5-6 sessions over a period
of time with the client following a structure of listening to recorded sessions
in-between each session.
These sessions are approximately 1 hour in length.
NB - a quick note about resistance to
hypnotherapy: sometimes as you get closer to the
originating event you can feel feelings of resistance. This may take the form of
not telling the therapist what is in your mind, or feeling “it’s not working”.
This is quite common although does not happen to everyone, please try to work
through this whoever you choose your therapist to be. Therapy work best when you
fully involve yourself. |
