Therapies
Hypnosis is not magic; it cannot do anything apart from bring a
sense of calmness and relaxation. It is the therapy that happens during hypnosis
that makes the difference. I use many different types of therapy to get the best
results as each client will have a tailor made therapy. Hypnoanalysis
Using analysis during hypnosis is a way of getting to the cause of any
psychological problem. it allows your subconscious mind to relax and find what
has cause symptoms for many conditions. Many of our symptoms are there because
we have stored them up. It may not be obvious as to what these are. For example
a traumatic event in the past, usually childhood, for example fear of talking in
public could be because of the emotion linked with being told off for butting in
when adults were talking. Not traumatic for an adult but possibly very upsetting
for a small child. We can sometimes recall these events consciously but it is
being able to relive and release the childhood emotion that makes the change.
Regression to cause
By tracing back the events that linked the emotions together it is possible to
find the root cause of the problem. This is a very specific therapy.
Free association technique
By allowing your subconscious mind to travel through your experiences, it may be
that although there could be a single event that caused to problem you are
experiencing, it could be a series of smaller events. Free association allows
you to explore these experiences and release the emotion associated with it.
Hypnoanalysis usually takes between 8 and 12 hours of therapy. I like to work on
approximately 90 minute sessions as this gives you the chance to explore your
mind more fully. Occasionally this can take longer depending on how easy it is
for you to explore past memories.
NB - a quick note about resistance to
hypnotherapy: sometimes as you get closer to the
originating event you can feel feelings of resistance. This may take the form of
not telling the therapist what is in your mind, or feeling “it’s not working”.
This is quite common although does not happen to everyone, please try to work
through this whoever you choose your therapist to be. Therapy work best when you
fully involve yourself. |
